Awarding South Florida’s Men of Tomorrow

The Zeta Alpha Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.® will be holding its 34th annual Men of Tomorrow Scholarship & Awards Banquet this Saturday (April 16). The event will take place at Signature Grand, 6900 W. State Road 84, in Davie. Tickets are $75. You can also make a tax-deductible donation of any amount to support the cause. Thursday Night Jazz with Iota Phi Theta

The Alpha Lambda Omega graduate chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.® will be hosting its first Thursday Night Jazz event on April 21. It will be held at Off The Trax Restaurant & Lounge located at 1595 W. Oakland Park Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. Spread the Word: Free Money for South Florida Student Journalists

Do you know any graduating high school seniors or current college students who want to enter the media industry? Well, help get the word out that The South Florida Black Journalists Association is offering three scholarships to students of African descent who want to pursue careers in journalism. The deadline for applications has been extended until May 13.

High school seniors can apply for the Rochelle Bridges Memorial Scholarship ($1,500) and the Miami Herald Multimedia Scholarship ($500). College students can apply for the Dwight Lauderdale Scholarship ($1,000).

To be eligible, students must complete an application; have a 3.0 GPA + copy of official transcript; include two samples of writing; three letters of recommendation; and an essay that answers “Why are journalists of color necessary in shaping the delivery of news and other information?”
